July 16, 2009 was an experience for me. On this day Cabrini Connections held its 14th annual Golf benefit which was a great day overall. The weather was great, record breaking attendance and golfing!! When you put that with great food, you could not ask for much more!! We even had NFL players (Nick Roach & Austin King) come to the benefit. I got the chance to chat with Nick for a bit a he gave me a sneak peek and insiders to the NFL. We got a great speech from Eboni Rivera, a recent graduate from the program. Of course this would not have been possible thanks to all of Cabrini Connections' supporters, the Highland Golf Club, and The Cabrini Connections' Staff.

The picture with Savon and Nick has so much meaning and tells the Cabrini Connections' story so well. Savon is a great student and when I first met him in the program he said that he had dreams of becoming a professional football player...and in less than a year in the Cabrini Connections' program Savon has gone to a Bears Pre-Season football game, Green Bay Packer's Tyrell Sutton and Chicago Bear's Orlando Pace has visited the program, and in the last week, Savon was able to sit and talk with Chicago Bear's Linebacker, Nick Roach. Nick provided Savon with how to survive an NFL training camp, the inside scoop on various players, and what it takes to make it to the NFL!!!
This is one of the many examples of how we at Cabrini Connections work towards connecting students to resources so they get on and stay on a track to be in a career by the age of 25.
